Treatment Programs in Massachusetts
Treatment is organized by how much structure you need, not by how far things have gone. These are the levels of care we run, and most people pass through more than one.
Confidential. No cost to call, and no obligation to start anything.
- Joint Commission accredited facilities
- Admissions open 24/7
- Most insurance accepted
- Confidential from the first call
How the levels fit together
Detox handles withdrawal and nothing else. Inpatient rehab gives you somewhere to stay while the early weeks pass. A partial hospitalization program is a full clinical day with your own bed at night. Intensive outpatient is a few sessions a week that most people fit around a job. Outpatient is regular therapy and check ins. Sober living is housing rather than treatment, and runs alongside the rest of it.
Almost nobody uses all seven. Two or three is typical, stepping down as things steady.
How one gets chosen
The assessment covers substance history, medical history, current medications, mental health and what home looks like. Some of it decides itself: anyone withdrawing from alcohol or benzodiazepines needs medical supervision whether or not it feels necessary. Someone with a settled home and a job they cannot step away from may do better in an evening program than a residential one.
Coverage is part of the answer too. We check it before you commit rather than after, so the plan you agree to is one your insurance will actually pay for.
Stepping down is the plan, not a setback
Finishing detox and moving into a day program is not leaving treatment early. These levels are built to hand off to each other, and the discharge plan from one is the intake for the next.
When we are not the right place
Some people need a level of care we do not run, or a medical setting we are not. We would rather say that on the first call than admit somebody and work it out in week two.
