Addiction Treatment Center in Quincy, MA
The Massachusetts Center for Addiction is Rockland Recovery Group’s Quincy location, in Quincy Center a short walk from the Red Line. It is the one location where we treat substance use and mental health conditions under the same roof, which is why people whose depression, anxiety, PTSD, or bipolar disorder is tangled up with their drinking or drug use are usually placed here. Three levels of care run in Quincy: partial hospitalization at five to six hours a day on weekdays, intensive outpatient at about three hours a day on several days a week for six to twelve weeks, and standard outpatient care at one to three hours a week. Everyone goes home at night, to their own home or to one of our sober living houses in Quincy, Milton, Rockland, or Dorchester.
We are not a detox center. A lot of people find this page searching for one, so to be plain: we do not provide medical detox, residential rehab, or inpatient care in Quincy or anywhere else. What we do is arrange detox at a partner facility when someone is physically dependent on alcohol, benzodiazepines, or opioids, and plan their admission here for the day they are discharged, so that the detox has somewhere to lead. - Alcohol and Drug Addiction Alcohol, opioids including heroin and fentanyl, benzodiazepines, cocaine and crack, methamphetamine, and prescription drugs. Medication-assisted treatment with Suboxone, Vivitrol, naltrexone, and acamprosate is part of the program here.
- Depression and Anxiety The two conditions most often underneath heavy drinking and drug use, and the ones that are still there at month two of sobriety when the acute phase is over. Therapy and psychiatric medication management at every level of care.
- PTSD Trauma-focused therapy sequenced so that it supports sobriety rather than threatening it, after a stabilization phase. A large share of people in addiction treatment have unrecognized PTSD underneath the use.
- Bipolar Disorder Mood stabilization with a psychiatrist alongside addiction treatment, since substance use and mood episodes drive each other and neither improves while the other is untreated.
- Sober Living MASH-certified, gender-specific houses in Quincy, Milton, Rockland, and Dorchester at $275 a week including utilities, laundry, parking, wifi, and cable. Typically for people enrolled in one of our programs, and closest to this location.
What Treatment in Quincy Looks Like
At the partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient levels, most of the day is group therapy, with weekly individual sessions, psychiatric care, and medication management running alongside. Because this location treats both conditions, a person’s schedule can include a relapse prevention group in the morning and a DBT skills group or trauma group in the afternoon, with one clinician coordinating the whole plan. CBT, DBT, acceptance and commitment therapy, and family therapy are all part of the work. People who need mental health treatment alone are usually placed at our Sharon or Bedford locations.
Do you offer Suboxone or Vivitrol in Quincy?
Yes. Buprenorphine as Suboxone film or tablet, and naltrexone as a daily tablet or the monthly Vivitrol injection, are prescribed and managed here as part of treatment. For alcohol, naltrexone and acamprosate are available. We do not prescribe methadone.
Is the Quincy location accessible by public transit?
Yes. The center is in Quincy Center, a short walk from the Quincy Center station on the Red Line and the commuter rail, which makes it the most reachable of our locations from Boston and Dorchester without a car.
