Mental Health Treatment in Sharon, MA
Rockland Recovery Behavioral Health is Rockland Recovery Group’s mental health program in Sharon. It is an outpatient center: people come for the day or for a few hours and go home at night. Three levels of care run here. Partial hospitalization is five to six hours a day on weekdays and is the right level for someone leaving a psychiatric hospital or someone whose depression, anxiety, or mood disorder has made ordinary life unmanageable. Intensive outpatient is about three hours a day on several days a week for six to twelve weeks, scheduled around work or school. Standard outpatient is one to three hours a week of therapy and medication management that continues as long as it is useful.
This location treats mental health conditions only. If drinking or drug use is the main problem, or is running alongside a mental health condition, the right doors are our Braintree center for substance use and the Massachusetts Center for Addiction in Quincy, which treats both together. Admissions will tell you which on the first call, and the call is the same number for every location.
We do not provide inpatient psychiatric care, crisis stabilization, or detox at Sharon or anywhere else. Someone who is actively suicidal, psychotic, or manic without sleep needs an emergency department or the Behavioral Health Help Line at 833-773-2445 first. We are the step after that, and the hospital’s discharge planner can call us directly to set it up before the person leaves.
What We Treat in Sharon
Each condition has its own program page describing the therapy, the medication approach, and what a course of treatment looks like. All of them run at every level of care here.
- Depression Major depression and persistent depressive disorder, including depression that has not responded to a first or second medication. Therapy, medication review, and the daily structure that depression takes away.
- Anxiety and Panic Generalized anxiety, social anxiety, and panic disorder. Graded exposure and CBT for the avoidance, DBT skills for the physical symptoms, and medication where it helps.
- PTSD Trauma-focused therapy after a stabilization phase, so the work is tolerable and holds. Common alongside substance use, which is one reason many people come to us after an addiction program.
- Bipolar Disorder Mood stabilization with a psychiatrist, therapy for recognizing early warning signs, and the sleep and routine work that keeps episodes from starting.
- Borderline Personality Disorder A full DBT program, individual therapy and a weekly skills group, which is the treatment with the strongest evidence for BPD and the one most often missing from general therapy.
- Schizoaffective Disorder Long-term medication management and therapy for a condition that is often misdiagnosed for years. Partial hospitalization here is the usual step after a hospital discharge.
What Treatment at Sharon Involves
Most of the day at the partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient levels is group therapy, with an individual session each week and psychiatric appointments as often as the medication picture needs. Groups include a DBT skills group, a CBT group for anxiety and depression, a trauma-focused group, and sessions for families. Acceptance and commitment therapy and internal family systems are part of the individual work for people who respond to them. Family sessions are available at every level, because a person’s household usually has as much to do with recovery as anything that happens in the building.
Sharon serves people from across Norfolk and northern Bristol counties: Foxborough, Mansfield, Walpole, Canton, Stoughton, Norwood, Easton, and Norton are among the towns we serve, and the location off Route 1 and I-95 makes it reachable from Providence-side towns as well. Our mental health treatment page describes the therapies in more depth, and PHP vs. IOP explains how to tell which intensive level fits.
Insurance is commercial only. We verify benefits before the first appointment and tell you what your plan covers before you decide anything. We do not accept MassHealth or Medicare; the Behavioral Health Help Line at 833-773-2445 can find programs that do.

What levels of care are available in Sharon?
Partial hospitalization (five to six hours a day on weekdays), intensive outpatient (about three hours a day on several days a week, for six to twelve weeks), and standard outpatient care (one to three hours a week). Everyone goes home at night. We do not provide inpatient or residential psychiatric care.
Do you offer DBT in Sharon?
Yes, as a full program with both parts: weekly individual DBT therapy and a weekly skills group. It is the core of our treatment for borderline personality disorder and is used across anxiety, mood, and trauma treatment as well.
How quickly can I start?
Admissions answers 24 hours a day. The first call is a clinical conversation of about 20 minutes plus insurance verification, and for most people the first appointment is within a few days. If you are being discharged from a hospital, the discharge planner can call us to arrange a start date before you leave.
What insurance does the Sharon location accept?
Commercial insurance plans. We verify your specific benefits before your first visit. We do not accept MassHealth or Medicare. If you have one of those, the Massachusetts Behavioral Health Help Line at 833-773-2445 lists programs that do.
What is the difference between the Sharon and Bedford locations?
They run the same mental health programs. Sharon serves the South Shore and Norfolk County; Rockland Recovery Behavioral Health North in Bedford serves the Route 128 and Route 3 corridor north and west of Boston. Choose the one that is easier to get to every day, because attendance is what makes intensive treatment work.
Inside Rockland Recovery Behavioral Health
Levels of care
Which one fits is decided at assessment. Most people move between them as things change.
- Partial hospitalization A full clinical day, five days a week, sleeping at home.
- Intensive outpatient Several sessions a week. Fits around a job for most people.
- Outpatient treatment Regular therapy and check ins. The lightest level of care we offer.
Arranged through partner facilities
We do not provide these ourselves. Where an assessment shows one is what you need, admissions arranges it with a partner facility and picks your care back up afterwards.
